First EDPN Conference big success!
The first European Decision Professionals Network conference was a big success!
Well over 50 participants from various backgrounds joined the event on 4 and 5 October at Amsterdam Airport, and they were all very enthusiastic. With backgrounds across oil & gas, high-tech, consumer goods, life sciences industry, as well as academia and consulting, they all shared the EDPN vision that improving decision quality is a strategic capability.
From the keynote speech by Shell’s Jeremy Bentham on scenario planning up to the final presentation by Bernard Lacroix of Eurocontrol about cost-benefit analysis in air traffic control, the program offered a wide range of case studies, industry overviews, and new techniques for improving decision quality.
You can download the presentations here.
In the evening break out sessions, the participants contributed to the further elaboration of the EDPN activities and organisation. The discussions are already continuing in the EDPN LinkedIn group.
Former Chevron decision analysis champion Frank Koch chaired this first large scale gathering of decision professionals in Europe, and concluded that it already matches the well-established annual US-based events. A year of preparations has paid off in a great way for the community and for the opportunity to improve decision quality. All of this means the way forward will definitely include an EDPN conference next year. So stay in touch!
